Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Agency’s (PMDA) Dr. Yasuhiro Fujiwara joins us in a presentation that promises to provide healthcare company representatives with a rare opportunity to learn about the future course of the PMDA and regulatory excellence in Japan.

Dr. Fujiwara, who took the position of Chief Executive of Japan’s PMDA in April 2019, plans to include the following points on how to proceed with regulatory science in his lecture:
• How PMDA can help connect the Washington D.C. office to the people they serve
• Issues for global companies to innovate or introduce innovative products to Japan
• The future of clinical trials given the changing nature of Quality by Design
• The next generation of gene therapy
• Dr. Fujiwara’s future vision of PMDA

PMDA plays three key roles—relief services for persons injured by adverse reactions to drugs and regenerative medical products, product reviews, and safety measures. They are engaged in ensuring the quality, efficacy, and safety of medical products such as drugs, vaccines, biologics, medical devices, and regenerative medical products. This responsibility ranges from development to post-market stages, and aims to provide citizens and healthcare professionals with rapid access to safer, more effective medical products, and to ensure their safe use.
